Up early today before light and sneaking off down the garden to the river – rods and lures in hand.
It’s a beautiful morning and the birds are singing. I walk up and down the bank casting a bright yellow lure. As I retrieve, a small catfish follows all the way to the bank then sees me and makes a hasty retreat.
A few more casts and eventually I get a hit – after a few seconds a nice Zander of approximately 5 pounds is on the bank.
A couple of smaller Zander followed, before heading back up the garden for breakfast. What a great start to the day.
